Airbus debuted their passenger plane the A220-300 at the Yangon International Airport.  The A220-300 features a brand new and more comfortable cabin layout and is capable of seating 143 passengers.

The test flight is part of Airbus’s two-week demonstration tour in the Asia-Pacific region.  Airbus’s marketing manager Christine De Gagne said this a single-aisle passenger plane that is more cost-efficient compared previously made passenger planes.

According to Airbus the A220-300, is being operated successfully in the Asia-Pacific region by Korean Air for both domestic and international flights. In February 2019 Air Vanuatu ordered four A220s, including two A220-100s and two A220-300s.

Therefore, the Asia-Pacific region is already an important market for Airbus, which has previously sold the A319 plane to Myanmar Airways International (MAI). Orders from the Asia-Pacific Region accounts for a third of the European manufacturer’s total order book and a third of its revenue.

Airbus forecasts a bright future for the air travel in Myanmar, passenger traffic is expected to grow at a rate of over 7 percent per year over the next 20 years.

Airbus holds over 60% of the market share in the region, with more than 3,000 aircraft in service across 80 airlines, on top of that there are over 1,500 aircraft on order for future delivery. Globally Airbus has received 19,428 orders and has delivered 12,152 aircrafts.

Airbus is currently manufacturing aircrafts in France, China and U.S. and has generated over 64 billion euros.
