For his second visit to Ayeyarwady Region, H.E. Christian Lechervy, Ambassador of France in Myanmar is leading a follow-up economic delegation composed of 3 institutions and 9 French companies on May 16 and 17, 2019, according to an official statement.
This new mission enables more French companies to be brought together, as oil and gas supermajor Total, global hospitality firm Accor and renewable energies start-up Mandalay Yoma are joining this delegation to Ayeyarwady for the first time, along with key players having expertise in energy (EDF, Voltalia) and engineering (Artelia, Banyan Green Services, Berim, Suez).
This visit aims at strengthening economic development cooperation between France and the vibrant Region of Ayeyarwady and to deepen topics discussed during the first visit, such as infrastructure and agriculture subjects. The Ambassador will be accompanied this time by the Southeast Asia director of the French agricultural research organization CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development), a representative of the French Development Agency, as well as by the head and members of the team of the Economic department of the French Embassy and the head of the trade section of the Embassy under the umbrella of Business France.
French companies will have the opportunity to foresee trade and investment opportunities and to further discussions, through individual meetings, with local authorities and private actors, which have undertaken numerous large-scale projects in the Region. This second mission will exemplify the French commitment to the economic development of the Region, in a context where the economic relations between Ayeyarwady Region and France will expand very rapidly in the coming years.
During this visit, on May 16, the Ambassador will meet with H.E. U Hla Moe Aung, Chief Minister of the Ayeyarwady Region, before meeting with H.E. U Win Htay, Regional Minister of Transport, Electricity, Industry, Communication, Energy and Highway and H.E. U Tin Aung Win, Regional Minister of Agriculture. Members of the delegation will also have the possibility to meet individually with these two ministers as well as with H.E. U Kyaw Myint, Regional Minister of Development Affairs and with U Zaw Win Shein, Chairman of Ayeyar Hinthar Holdings Co Ltd-Pathein Industrial City. Then, the delegation will visit Yuzana Cold Storage Factory-Ayeyarwady Fisheries Ltd in Pathein, before visiting the next day Yuzana’s Shrimp Nursery in Ngwe Saung. As an illustration of Ayeryarwady’s touristic potentials, it will also visit the Eco Resort Time Sharing Place under development in Ngwe Saung by MAX Myanmar Group.
