Over the past few years, Myanmar has experienced significant changes in its laws and regulations, and it can be challenging for companies to keep up with them. That's why FMCCI is hosting an event in collaboration with DFDL to assist and inform businesses about major legal developments in 2022 and potential developments in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, and what businesses/companies can do to adapt to these changing circumstances.
One of the key topics that will be discussed during the event is foreign exchange regulations. The presentation will also cover several directives and notifications that have been made publicly available by CBM in recent years, including regulations introduced in April 2022 that require foreign currency conversion and other requirements, exemptions for certain organizations from the conversion requirement, approval regimes for trade and non-trade payments to offshore vendors and lenders, the suspension of repayment of principal and interest of loans, and the relaxation of foreign currency conversion requirements for foreign companies. DFDL also discuss observable market practices with respect to each of the above.
In addition to foreign exchange regulations, corporate and commercial laws, including rules and regulations pertaining to trademark registration, consumer protection, and aspects generally pertaining to the food and beverage sector will be covered.
